01 Requirements & Feasibility Assessment

Confirm the product category, target market, core functions, target cost, order quantity and launch schedule. Determine whether the project should use an existing platform modification or full new-product development. Deliverables include a product brief, initial proposal, quotation range and project roadmap.

02 Industrial Design & Product Definition

Define the product dimensions, form, CMF colors and finishes, control method, display method and function combination. Deliverables include approved exterior renderings and a product specification proposal.

7–10 Working Days From Product Idea to Industrial Design: What Buyers Need to Confirm
03 Appearance Prototype ID

After the model and exterior renderings are approved, an appearance prototype is normally produced to confirm dimensions, proportions, colors, grip and overall appearance. It is not the same as a fully working functional prototype.

04 Structural Engineering & Functional Prototype MD

After exterior approval, development moves into the internal structure, airflow path, electronic solution, battery, PCB, assembly method and safety design. Structural design and the engineering functional prototype are normally completed within this stage.

05 Formal Tooling & T0 Trial

After the engineering solution is approved, formal tooling begins. The molds and first T0 trial samples are normally completed within about 40 working days for injection, assembly, structural, tolerance and appearance inspection.

06 T1/T2 Optimization & Production Validation

Based on T0 test results, the molds and product structure are refined through T1/T2 trials, performance testing, reliability validation and mass-production document confirmation. The move from T1/T2 to production normally takes about 15 working days, depending on the modification scope.

07 Mass Production, Quality Control & Delivery

Complete golden-sample approval, incoming-material inspection, first-article confirmation, in-process inspection, finished-product inspection, packing and shipment. The production schedule depends on order quantity, material readiness and packaging requirements.

01What information should I provide before development starts?

A useful starting brief includes the product category, target market, required functions, reference images or sketches, expected quantity, target price and desired launch date. A finished drawing is not required.

02Can we start with only a sketch or product idea?

Yes. We can first translate the idea into a structured requirement brief and evaluate whether an existing platform, a platform modification or a complete new development route is more suitable.

03Is an appearance prototype a working sample?

Usually not. Its purpose is to validate exterior design, size, proportion, color and ergonomics. A functional prototype is created later after internal structural and electronic engineering.

04Why can a modified product be developed faster than a completely new product?

A platform-based project may reuse proven internal structures, electronics and materials. A completely new product requires additional structural, airflow, electronic and safety validation before tooling.

05What happens if we change the design after approval?

Changes remain possible, but requests made after an approval gate may affect engineering work, tooling cost and lead time. The impact is reviewed before the change proceeds.

06Can packaging and certification be handled during product development?

Yes. Market compliance should be considered from the first stage, while packaging and manuals can progress once the product dimensions and configuration are sufficiently stable.
