Can I Add Essential Oil in My Humidifier?

Publish Time: Author: Site Editor Visit: 922

People like to use humidifiers when the weather is dry to increase the moisture content of the air, making it moist and fresher, and to get rid of smelly, smoky odours. As a supplier who sells thousands of humidifiers and aromatherapy units a year, many customers often ask can I add essential oils to my humidifier? The answer is no! it’s generally not safe to put essential oils in your humidifier.

On the one hand, In terms of material, the humidifier usually uses ABS or AS plastic material as the water tank, which is not resistant to the corrosion of essential oils. Long-term use will cause the water tank to be corroded, resulting in rupture, and may release toxic gases into the air, affecting health.

On the other hand, the humidifier comes with a cotton swab, which absorbs water to the atomizing sheet through the cotton swab to make the spray. Adding essential oils can cause the cotton swab to become polluted and turn yellow, block the mist outlet, and it is not easy to clean.

If you use a humidifier but need to add fragrance with essential oils, you can drop the essential oils on cotton balls or paper towels and place them at the outlet of the humidifier to achieve the same effect. For a more convenient method we recommend you use an aromatherapy diffuser. Aromatherapy diffusers can be used directly with essential oils while humidifying the air. Most of the aroma diffusers are made of PP material. The chips, wafer spoons, and atomizers of the aroma diffuser are all specially developed for essential oils, which are resistant to oil, water, and chemical corrosion. Therefore, dripping essential oils in the aromatherapy machine can use every drop of aromatherapy essence more thoroughly, and quickly distribute the extremely delicate aromatherapy molecules to every corner. It is safe to use with confidence.

Basic tips for using the humidifier

1.Use only distilled or purified water that does not contain minerals. Avoid pouring tap water directly into the tank. The correct way is to boil the water, let it cool and then pour it into the tank, which not only kills the bacteria in the water, but also evaporates the chlorine.

2. Keep track of humidity levels. Change the water in the humidifier regularly

3.Clean the humidifier regularly. Insist on weekly cleaning to avoid microorganisms and bacteria in the water from being released into the air.

4.Change any filters as instructed. Some customer asks : Can the cotton swab of the humidifier be washed? If the time is too long, the cotton swab will turn yellow and harden. Although the cotton swab will become clean and soft after cleaning, the effect is relatively poor, and it will also affect the use time of the humidifier. It is recommended to replace it with a clean cotton swab, which will have a better water guiding effect and run more smoothly.

5.Exercise caution when using a humidifier around children. Do not use the humidifier too close to infants, as a large amount of water molecules in the humidifier will enter the respiratory tract of infants, irritating and causing respiratory discomfort,

6.Follow the manufacturer’s instructions. The humidifier packaging list includes a manual.
